44. A Remembrance of the Dead

Dolefully I received this day, the fourth of June, with so many dreadful memories of the grim tragedies taking place in the square twenty-two years ago, that they are now still as shocking as experienced when they were just happening. As the mournful melody of Elgar's "Elegy" was hovering in the air at home, letting this little piece be my "Elegy", I paid my deepest tribute to the dead of the day, hoping the eventual arrival of democracy to the motherland in the near foreseeable future!
